Photo Friday #11

Crook Hall and Gardens

I love this shot of the grannies sitting down having a chat. I wonder what they're discussing? How beautiful the bride was? Weren't the flowers lovely? It was a lovely ceremony...

Charity Event

A few weeks ago I was part of a get together for Oxfam International Women's Day. It all started from twitter; someone asking if any North East businesses could donate raffle prizes. As well as wedding photography, I also have fine art photographs for sale. So I decided to donate a 10x8 mounted photo of the winner's choice.

I met up with Emma from Little Bundles Bunting who was one of the organisers, (along with Elizabeth from Whistles and Bells and April from La Bodega Tapas Bar in Morpeth.) Her enthusiasm for the cause was infectious and when I learnt that they were having a few stalls at the event, I asked if I could have a spot.

The event was a huge success, being the largest get together in the whole of the North of England! The Tapas bar was busy all day serving coffees (and delicious cakes - I know, I had one!), lunch and evening meals. The Mayor and Mayoress came and on the day, the girls raised £1300. There had also been an "Inspirational Women" competition run in a couple of the local schools where the children wrote about their inspirational women. Many of the finalists had written about family; mums and sisters either overcoming illnesses or just working hard to achieve their ambitions and goals.

It was a great day and I feel privileged to have been part of it.

Photo Friday #10

The bride gave the page boy and flower girls a build-a-bear each to carry down the aisle. All of the guests went "Awww" when they walked in and the page boy (the couple's son) is obviously happy to see Daddy!

Some FAQ

Having just done three wedding fairs in three weekends, I've chatted to lots of brides and had a few questions asked about the photography packages. So I thought I'd answer them all here for you!

"If we book an album package, how long do you stay for?"

For the Storybook package, I can come to the bride's house/venue to take photos of getting ready. Either before or after you are in your dress. I'll usually stay to photograph the speeches if you'd like and if you want the first dance photographing as well I can stay for that too, although the longer I'm there, the more photos you'll want!
For the Storybook Deluxe package, I can cover bride getting ready right through until the first dance. If you don't fancy having photos of you getting ready, that's fine, it's entirely up to you. After all it's your day!

"Do we get to see the album design layout before it's printed?"

Yes. Once I've designed the album layout from the photos you have chosen, I will email you the proofs. At this stage you can change black and white photos back to colour or change sizes of photos. Once I've made the changes, I'll email the new layouts for your approval again. Only when you are happy, will I order the finished album.

"Your photography and cd only packages start from a minimum of 2 and a half hours, how much would it be to have coverage from the ceremony to the first dance?"

This will depend on specific timings but say you were having a 2pm ceremony and your first dance was going to be at 8pm I would need to be there for 6 and a half hours. This would be £905 which would include a cd of images and your choice of an 8x6 photo book, A3 calendar, 5 mini albums or a 16x12 wall canvas.

"Would we have full rights to print the photographs from the cd?"

Yes, you get a licence to print the photographs in any way you choose for yourselves and your family and friends.

"Would we be able to come back and order an album at a later date?"

Of course! There is no difference in the photos I take for an album package and a cd only package. There will be plenty of photographs to choose from to put into an album at a later date. You would just pay the difference between the album package price and the amount you had already paid.

For details of the products included in the photography and cd only package please read my post on Album package vs Photography & CD only package

Wedding fairs

I'm now two thirds of the way through my spring wedding fairs and have spoken to lots of lovely couples about their wedding days.

If you're still looking for your photographer, a local wedding fair is a great place to go. There are usually a range of photographers with different styles and prices, (all under one roof!) so you can find out what kind of photography you'd like.

I also think wedding fairs are invaluable in getting to meet the photographer as I do feel like I have to sell myself (which I'm not that good at) as well as the photographs. After all, the photographer will be present for quite a lot of the day.

I try to be as unobtrusive as possible on your wedding day and I'm a bit like that at the fairs as well. I don't like leaping out at brides, handing out leaflets, so if you see my stand at a wedding fair, come over and say hi, browse through the albums and have a chat about your day.

My next wedding fair is at Slaley Hall, Northumberland on Sunday 18th March 11am-3pm

Exciting new venture

Wedding watercolour 1

I'm very excited to share with you my new venture. Why not commission an original watercolour painting of your wedding venue? Many people don't like the thought of displaying large wedding photographs on their walls, but this is a lovely alternative. The size of the mount is approximately 10" x 13" but will depend on the size of your painting.

I will use a photograph taken on the day and paint a watercolour of it. It could be the building on its own or have you featured like the painting above. Don't forget that the first wedding anniversary is paper so it could be the ideal gift!

At the moment I'm offering this service for just £30. Please contact me for further details.

Thank you for looking and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Longhirst Hall

Anyone for a race? I like the spontaneity of running shots. Especially when something happens like the guy's sunglasses falling out of his pocket!
